Many of my clients are currently employed, while others did not work due to layoffs, business closures or cutbacks. Those who have lost their jobs, said they are constantly worrying how they can remain viable as a candidate, while continuing to seek employment.
I have some simple and easy steps you can take to keep your 'toe in the pool "and not be a candidate only very important but also very competitive:
1) Education
Did you obtain a specific qualification that is common in your area, but never had time to finish or even start? Now is the time to invest your time and enjoy the flexibility to start courses. One could make the difference later in the line of human resources and many hiring managers humans to assess levels of education in their curriculum vitae as part of their selection process.
2) Professional Development
Review organizations industry seminars, providing training sessions, workshops, courses, conferences, conventions, certification and continuing education units. Show Potential employers do not sit around waiting for the moss to grow. Instead, he spent his time between work in obtaining objective knowledge to keep you abreast of industry trends. This can go a long way toward strengthening your candidate profile. The overall goal is professional development to employers you are a continuing student who is taking active steps to improve their knowledge and keep abreast of current trends.
3) Memberships
Affiliations with professional organizations or associations that are relevant to their area of career exploration can also improve your image, help you gain valuable networking, and provide industry specific education. The fees may seem steep, but the access they provide may prove fruitful.
Volunteers 4)
Volunteer wins hands down as the easiest (and most fun) way to build credibility, experience and current skills. By volunteering, you can learn new things, learn new skills, add a current experience in your CV, meet new people, becoming a known quantity, and even learn of job offers before publication, because it has an inside track on part of the organization.
But the best part is: for volunteering and participation in altruistic behavior, which triggers the release of endorphins, which are chemicals that feels good that may improve your mood. Lack of employment can be very daunting, with an activity that is fun and makes you feel good you can be just what you need to put you in a proactive, positive job search mindset.
Finally, the volunteers also sends a subliminal message to an employer: Do not just show up and push the paper around the office from 8am-5pm, you are an active and committed person. You are not just a corporate citizen, but are also a collective good citizen. "In virtue of their participation in the community, no doubt, the company intends to benefit from volunteering with positive community plug base "! also shows you have the initiative!
5) Read all you can
Get online or go to the library, and voraciously consume news and trend information, you can found in their professional field concerned. You are well read, knowledge and resources to potential employers during an interview or write a letter. One advantage added is also learn much, if meet in networking events. You will be guaranteed to impress!
