The law in the EU: a freelancer using pirated software. Can a company that buys h / ER services has legal problems?
I'm from Romania. I address web design company with 4 employees and all the software legaly purchased (Macromedia, Corel, etc..) However, in Romania 70% web design market is dominated by independents who often use unlicensed software (id, pirated software). This means that 70% of Websites are pirates. Including outsourcing to the U.S. / UE! So consider opening a consulting / business law for companies that want to purchase web design and programming services the Romanian market. However, I do not know who should pay, under EU law, where piracy: beneficiary or independent professional? … If independent as a company that would have 0 chance to develop. But if companies, this may be a business opportunity. The lawyer can act as a "debt collector" on behalf of companies selling pirated products or some legal "piracy free" certificate … just thoughts.
I think there is an agreement between the EU and the U.S. on licensing and enforcement of trademarks and copyright in the "intellectual property" do not know if there will be a separate agreement specifically to your home country and I would propose that covert investigations with the U.S. embassy in your country, do not talk too much, because it could take the idea even if you have not already.
